Having previously studied Child Development, aspiring illustrator/author Georgia Cowley takes inspiration from her work with children and young people struggling with learning and mental health difficulties. She is passionate about using children’s literature as a tool to help children navigate their emotional experiences, aiming to imbue her characters with a humour and liveliness which she hopes cuts through the difficult subject matter. One of her favourite things about making pictures is hiding tiny details for children to spot and puzzle over. Georgia’s poem “Brave” was recently shortlisted for the Poetry division of the Bournemouth Writing Prize 2021.
